To refine your autumn and winter looks, it’s high time to pay attention to the shoe trends for 2024. As you already know, it’s the accessories AND the shoes that elevate an outfit. Our little feet not only need to be stylish but also comfortably nestled in quality materials. To get a sense of the essentials, the editorial team once again scoured the runways of the Fall-Winter 2024-2025 Fashion Weeks in Paris, Milan, London, and New York. The result? Here are the four shoe models for 2024 worth investing in, not with closed eyes, but with an open heart.

Derby Girl

After loafers and then Mary Janes, it’s now time for  derbies to make their grand comeback. A true hit for the shoes of 2024, this basic style boasts several advantages: unisex, timeless, comfortable, and, most importantly, it goes with everything. For a bit of history, derbies were created in the 19th century by Sir Edward Smith Stanley, the 14th Earl of Derby. They were borrowed from the male wardrobe to replace the closed-lacing Richelieu shoes, which could constrict the feet. We spotted them on the runways at Fashion Week with Max Mara, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Maison Margiela, and more.  It’s the Church’s  model from Miu Miu, in slightly shiny black leather, that captivated us the most (€1,050). The brand also released a second elegant bi-colored edition (camel and cream).

Frog Thigh Highs

Among the shoes for 2024, here’s the editorial team’s crush: thigh-highs (yes, we know ) but in green leather or suede. Thanks to the series Emily in Paris, this trend is decidedly Brat Girl-approved. As you probably already know, green (in all its shades: green-brown, apple green, khaki) is the star color of the fashion trends for 2024-2025. It’s both chic and bold, everything we love. And no, you won’t look like Fantomas. In suede from Sézane, olive green leather from Ferragamo, crocodile-embossed from Paris Texas, or python-embossed from Michael Kors. Whatever the variation, they’re all winners!

The editorial team goes  for the Colette thigh-highs from Sézane, which combine two key trends this year (khaki and suede) and at a sweet price (€350).

Sexy Leo

A little darling of shoes for 2024, leopard print comes in all styles. Whether it’s ankle boots, heels, flats, mules, or even derbies, from Dior to Isabel Marant and Marni, nearly everyone has succumbed to this fancy worthy of the best looks of Fran Fine in the cult series The Nanny. And we couldn’t be happier. To stay chic while making a statement, we prefer the Brandi leopard print loafers from Aquazzura (€750) or the Blade Bootie 65 ankle boots (€895).

On the Road Again

Has the spirit of Lorenzo Lamas (the hero of the series Renegade) loomed large  over the shoe trends for 2024? It seems so, as Hermès, Loewe, and Miu Miu have all succumbed to biker boots. Honestly, it’s not the editorial team’s favorite model, a bit too loose for our taste. It can quickly veer into a wandering minstrel look from the Middle Ages (Jacquouille la Fripouille, these are for you…).

At the editorial team, we prefer the Hermès version: rigid leather (more elegant) in a cherry (or burgundy) color that’s simply stunning.

Or Miu Miu’s version in smoky leather (€1,350).

One thing is certain, when it comes to summer 2024 shoe trends, comfort is essential. Flat shoes triumph on the runways, from Miu Miu to Hermès, Valentino, and Alaïa. Ballet flats are making a comeback, while flip-flops, long relegated to beach days, are becoming chic. And we can’t forget  gladiator sandals, favorites of the 2007-2009 era, re-emerging at Rabanne. We also saw the modest Mary Jane and its opposite, the not-so-subtle dad sandal. So, which ones caught our attention? Here’s a selection of 5 summer 2024 shoe trends that will keep our feet on the ground all season long!

The mule: 4 knots by Zyne

Among the runway offerings from Prada, Valentino, and Chloé, which feature slightly bulky mules, we prefer the delicacy of the model from the Moroccan brand that highlights the craftsmanship of its artisans. With a decidedly chic hue and an intricate shape, Zyne’s 4 Knots will undoubtedly be our summer companion.

The Ballet flat: GG strap by Gucci

Chanel, Fendi, Tory Burch, Proenza Schouler, and more, on mostcatwalks,  ballet flats were a prominent summer 2024 shoe trend. Ultra-flat, futuristic, and openwork, designers are making it do pirouettes. As for us, we land on our feet with this ultra-vibrant Gucci model to energize our summer looks.

The flip-flop: Tanger by Yves Saint Laurent

Elevated by Chanel this season, flip-flops leave behind their role as last-minute suitcase saviors to perfect our summer looks.  Whether heeled (Burberry, Coperni) or flat (Miu Miu), we bet on Saint Laurent’s purist version, right in the season’s favorite animal print.

The clog: HardCrocs by Balenciaga

Among summer 2024 shoe trends, there are two schools of thought for clogs. One honors the ’70s, like at Coperni, Isabel Marant, and Etro, and the other is the urban futuristic version, like Balenciaga and JW Anderson. We lean towards the radicalism of this model, which admittedly goes over the top.
