To help your skin and hair recover from the demands of summer, turn to rejuvenating and moisturizing homemade masks. We’re sharing our 3 favorite recipes with you.

The holidays are coming to an end soon. After several weeks spent basking in the sun, it’s clear that our skin and hair have taken more than their fair share of abuse. Take advantage of the remaining time to make it up to them by concocting some homemade mask recipes. Whether it’s for your face, hair, hands, or feet, we’re sharing our favorite treatments with you.

For the Face

Homemade Anti-Wrinkle Mask: Egg, Lemon, and Olive Oil (or Argan Oil). Comprising only 3 basic ingredients, this recipe is one of the nourishing homemade masks that also boasts anti-aging properties. The proteins in the egg white will strengthen skin elasticity, lemon provides a shot of vitamin C, and oil deeply moisturizes. It’s a powerful and highly effective combination.

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 2 teaspoons of olive oil or argan oil

Preparation:

Start by beating the egg white until it’s frothy. Then add the other ingredients and mix gently. Apply to your skin and leave it on for 20 minutes. Remember to rinse thoroughly, and you can finish with a cotton pad soaked in hydrosol or micellar water to avoid leaving the lemon on for too long (which can irritate your skin).

For the Hair

Homemade Repairing Mask: Honey, Avocado, Egg, Olive Oil.

There are several homemade mask recipes that can nourish the hair fiber, usually utilizing honey, avocado, or egg as potent moisturizing ingredients. Note that you can replace avocado with a banana for the same effect.

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 ripe avocado
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil

Preparation:

In a blender, combine the egg yolk, diced avocado, 2 tablespoons of honey, and 2 tablespoons of olive oil (if you also have almond oil, you can add another 2 tablespoons). Once the mixture is well blended, spread it on your dry, pre-detangled hair. Then tie up your hair and place a warm towel on your head to enhance the effects of the treatment. After 30 minutes, you can wash your hair. The result? Immediate softness. Repeat twice a week.

For Hands and Feet

Homemade Nourishing Mask: Coconut Oil, Cottage Cheese, and Egg.

Hands and feet, which are heavily used, tend to be neglected. But tight skin and cracked heels are a big no-no! To deeply moisturize the particularly dry skin of these body parts, turn to coconut oil, egg, and yogurt. Coconut oil, rich in fatty acids, quickly heals cracked skin. Cottage cheese, on the other hand, contains enzymes that soothe irritated and dry skin. The result is soft, deeply nourished skin.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pot of cottage cheese (or plain yogurt)
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons of coconut oil

Preparation:

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl until you get a creamy mixture. Generously apply the homemade mask to your hands and feet. Leave it on for about twenty minutes before rinsing with warm water.
